Becky and Baldwin makes funny/strange plays and films. Inspired by the weirdness of our lives and the world around us, we seek to create entertaining experiences that push boundaries and communicate with audiences in new and exciting ways.
Becky and Baldwin is Mara De La Rosa and Nicholas Pilapil.
Mara De La Rosa is a writer, director, and producer. She is the creator of the web series BAES Welcome, which she also stars in and writes. Her short films include I Don’t Love You (Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Los Angeles Philippine International Film Festival), BASTARD (Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival), and I Like Femme Lesbians (Outfest, North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Outfest FUSION Jury Prize Honorable Mention). She is also the producer of the short film Called Home (Outfest, NewFest NYC, Mardi Gras Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival). Mara was a fellow at Loyola Marymount University’s Incubator Lab at Film Independent and an OutSet fellow at Outfest. Her plays include Real Love, which had an extended-sold-out run at the award-winning The Fountain Theatre.
Nicholas Pilapil is a writer and producer. As a playwright, his plays have been developed/performed with Artists at Play, Becky and Baldwin, East West Players, Fresh Produce’d LA, Fountain Theatre, Playwrights Foundation, and The Vagrancy. He is also the writer of the short films zoë (Outfest FUSION, Miniature Film Festival Canada, North Portland Unknown Film Festival) and I Don't Love You (Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Los Angeles Philippine International Film Festival). As a producer, with theatre collective Artists at Play, he produced the Los Angeles premieres of Cowboy Versus Samurai and 99 Histories, the West Coast premiere of In Love and Warcraft, the world premieres of The Two Kids That Blow Shit Up and Two Mile Hollow, and numerous new play readings and workshops. Other producing credits include After Orlando for East West Players, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk’s Party Worth Crashing, and the world premieres of Exhibit: Frida and Real Love.
